We had a very special donation to Local 876’s Operation Warm winter coat program!
Earlier this year our fire department suffered a tremendous loss with the Line of Duty Death of Firefighter Dan Patterson. Dan was known for being a very generous person. A few examples are the hygiene kits he’d make and meals he’d cook for individuals that were homeless. On a 911 call he even tried to give the socks off his own feet to an individual before deciding to go buy new socks for the person instead.
Daisy Riddle, daughter of SVFD Captain Ben Riddle, had known Dan for her entire life. In honor of Dan, she decided to keep his legacy going by creating a charity called Dan’s Helping Hand. Among the great things this cause has done, they were able to donate 50 brand-new winter coats to Operation Warm! Many of these coats have already been distributed to kids at Millwood Kindergarten as well as the Central Valley School District’s Student & Family Engagement Center.
Thank you for your donation!
