Spokane County schools will receive $2.7 million in additional funding for personal protection equipment after the county board of commissioners unanimously voted to manage, store, and distribute masks, Plexiglass barriers, gloves, hand sanitizer and other sanitizing items to local schools to help keep teaching staff and students safe during the 2020-2021 school year, according to a county press release.
“This funding will help all of our public and private schools with the important mission of providing a safe environment for our youth as we continue our journey to recovery for this community,” Al French, Chair of the Spokane County Board of Commissioners told county officials.

“...The schools in our region, and their students and staff, are deeply appreciative of the opportunity to work with, and be provided support from, Spokane County through the provision of CARES dollars to cover the cost of needed personal protective equipment,” Michael Dunn, Superintendent of Northeast Washington Educational Service District 101, said in the press release.
