CPD celebrated a monumental milestone.

It was the first time in our agencies history where the entire team working today was all women! CPD Officers Cheyanne Walters and Maria Fell worked day shift patrol as Kate Fairbanks was dispatching.

Women in policing are not only extremely valuable to every agency but they are creating better opportunities for the next generation of female officers, and are actively making their communities safer.

There is now a new generation of women breaking the gender barrier to obtain leadership positions in law enforcement, with an increasing number of female officers taking the helm of their department. The hard work and dedication to thoughtful policing by generations of female officers and dispatchers has paved the way for this movement.

A more balanced police force that takes advantage of the unique and valuable competencies that women bring to law enforcement will only serve to better the reputation of their department and increase trust between our community members. It is with great pride the Cheney Police Department to have these amazing women a part-of our agency!
