You may notice firefighters out shoveling snow around hydrants, while it is a great way to exercise. They will not be able to get to them all . If there is a fire hydrant near your home or business , do your part to keep it accessible this winter:
Remove snow and ice
Clear a wide enough perimeter around the hydrant for water staff and firefighters to work (about 3 to 5 feet)
Clear a path from the hydrant to the street
If you have a company providing plowing services, please talk to them about the location of the hydrant so they do not accidentally bury them under the snow.
Thank you for your cooperation!
