It’s always great to get a word of thanks!

It’s always great to get a word of thanks! Recently, Tera, one of our amazing 911 Communication Officers, received high praise and we thought we’d share:
“I would like you to pass on my sincere thanks to the operator who handled my 911 call. My mother had a medical emergency and I had to call 911. We needed to have her transported and the communication specialist that took my call did an exemplary job handling my situation. I have been in emergency services in the Spokane area for 30 years now and during that time I have only had a few situations where I was the person that had to call 911. I have always received ‘good’ service, but this was definitely a notch above

Based on my position, I am aware of the changes in the call receiving system that have been implemented since the creation of Spokane Regional Emergency Communications (SREC). This was my first opportunity to experience those changes ‘first-hand’!  I can tell you with no reservation that I am impressed. The elimination of the ‘hand-off’ from the 911 operator to a fire dispatcher was not only a great time saver, but it greatly reduced the frustration with needing to repeat the information about the situation to another communication specialist! It is humbling to get to experience the ‘fruits of our labor’ with all of the time and energy spent on enhancing our system. I am very appreciative of your staff that is putting in all of the effort to make our system great!

Thanks again and keep up the great work!

Howard Johnson III, Assistant Chief, Spokane County Fire District #4

Thank YOU Chief, for taking the time to share your thanks. Our 911 Communications Officers and Dispatchers go through extensive and rigorous training to manage the job they are tasked with, including Emergency Medical Dispatch training. This allows our 911 COs to gather critical information about the medical incident and provide immediate care while our Dispatchers are busy sending responders to the scene. We’re proud of the work our employees do every day. They truly care about our community and providing the best service possible.
