Suspect Arrested for Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and a Warrant

Suspect

Spokane Valley Deputies arrested a suspect for driving a reported stolen vehicle and a warrant on Sunday morning.  He was transported and booked into jail for Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle and the warrant (Unlawful Possession of a Payment Instrument and Theft 3rd Degree).

On May 22, 2022, at approximately 8:00 am., Spokane Valley Deputy Nerman Bajric observed a Buick Century in front of him, checked the vehicle’s license plate, and confirmed the car had been reported as stolen (May 16, 2022-Spokane Valley).

He conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle in a parking lot near E. Trent Avenue and N. Dollar Road.  With additional Spokane Valley Deputies assisting, the driver, identified as 29-year-old Marcus R. Wood, followed commands and was safely taken into custody.

The adult female passenger also followed commands, and she was detained.  Following the subsequent investigation, it was determined she did not know the vehicle was stolen, and she was released without charges.

Wood explained he recently purchased the vehicle from a guy named “Dan” and was given keys but didn’t have them with him because the vehicle’s ignition was damaged when he bought it.

A check of Wood’s name showed he had an active warrant for his arrest, charging him with Unlawful Possession of a Payment Instrument and Theft 3rd Degree, with a bond for those charges set at $10,000.

Wood was transported and booked into the Spokane County Jail for a new charge, Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle, and the warrant.
