Major Crimes Detectives Investigate Shooting in N. Spokane

Sheriff

Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Detectives continue their investigation of a shooting that occurred at an apartment complex in North Spokane.  A male was shot during the incident and transported to the hospital in a private vehicle before Deputies arrived.  His injuries were reported as potentially life-threatening but appeared to have been stabilized.  The other male, reportedly involved, had been staying at one of the apartments and fled the scene in a vehicle.  Initial information indicates this shooting occurred due to a dispute over property/cash and was not a random incident.

On May 20, 2022, at approximately 1:15 am., Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the area of the 6300 block of N. Howard Street in North Spokane.  The information from callers stated multiple shots were heard, and a male believed to be the suspect was seen, armed with a firearm, walking to, and leaving in, a vehicle.

Arriving Deputies contacted people at the location, none of which were involved in the incident.  They also located a handgun, blood, and additional items of evidence on the south side of the apartment building.

The crime scene was immediately secured for further investigation.

A few minutes later, Holy Family Hospital staff advised that a male was brought in suffering from gunshot wounds.  His injuries were reported as potentially life-threatening but appeared to have been stabilized.  Deputies and Spokane Police Officers responded to the location.

Major Crimes Detectives were called to continue the investigation.

Preliminary information indicates the shooting was potentially a result of a disagreement over property/money.  Investigators believe they have the people involved identified but have not located the male suspect.

Anyone with information regarding this shooting who Deputies/Detectives have not contacted is asked to call Crime Check at 509-456-2233, reference #10061793.
