Although COVID-19 related restrictions have been relaxed, public health officials in Spokane County claim that cases have risen in the area.
“We’ve been trending up for a number of weeks," Spokane Regional Health Officer Dr. Bob Lutz told KREM, "Our incidence rate is...166 per 100,000 [people]. We went into Phase 2 at 10 per 100,000, so we're a far cry from that and a far cry from going any place at this point forward with respect to phases," he added.
According to data obtained by Spokane County for July 4-10, 8.7% of people who took a coronavirus test in the county received a positive result.
Almost 30% of cases in the county have been connected to people ages 20 to 29 years old, and over 46% have been connected to people ages 20 to 39. People under the age of 50 accounts for 73% of total cases, KREM reported.
