Reopening may not be the smoothest journey for many companies, but Spokane County in Washington is doing its part to help ensure a soft transition for its small businesses, according to a press release from the county.
A total of $10 million in CARES Act funding has been set aside for a grant program to help businesses that have 20 or less employees. The grant will go toward offset expenses associated, with upgrading safety, rent and other expenses. The grants will be dispersed by the County’s Associated Development program and Greater Spokane Inc. in allotments of $10,000.
“The success of our economy is directly tied to the success of small businesses in our county,” Al French, Spokane County Board of Commissioners chairman, said in the press release. “Our hope is that these funds will help small businesses stay afloat in these difficult times."
The application process was under development at the beginning of July with the application period expected to start midway through the month.
